Who we are

Zetareh is a platform where people keep in touch, publish, and run small businesses. Families and communities create their own tribes and groups within it, and each one decides who may see it.

What you give us, and what we ask for

• Required, and this is the whole list: a username and an email address, so the account can exist and you can get back into it, and a password, which is kept only as a secure hash and never as a password.
• Everything else is voluntary. Your name, birthday, phone, photograph, the schools you went to, the people you are related to: every one of those can be left empty, and the account works without them. Each field also carries its own visibility, which you set.
• What you make: posts, photographs, messages, comments. You choose the audience when you make them, and nothing is shown more widely than you chose.
• Calls: voice and video calls connect directly between devices. We do not record them. Only the signalling needed to connect a call, meaning who is calling whom and when, passes through the server.
• If you run a shop here, your customers are not ours. Payments go to your own payment account, so who bought from you, who they are, and what they paid never pass through us. That is not a promise about our behaviour: there is nothing on our side to look at.
• Basic technical data needed to run the service: your session, and ordinary server logs such as IP address and device type, used for security and reliability.

We hold only what the platform needs to work. We do not track you across other apps or websites, and our pages load nothing from servers belonging to other companies: no advertising trackers and no outside fonts.

What we can see

Your ordinary content, meaning posts, messages, profile details and photographs, lives on our own servers in a form we could read. A small number of people who run the platform could technically read it, as at almost every service you use. We do not, beyond what keeping this place running and safe requires. We would rather tell you that plainly than promise you a lock we have not built.

Your Vault is the exception. What you put there is sealed on your own device before it is sent, and we hold only the sealed form. We cannot open it, we cannot recover it for you, and we would have nothing to hand over if we were told to.

If either of those ever changes, this section changes with it, and not afterwards.

How we use it

• To create and secure your account and sign you in.
• To show your content to the people you choose, and to run the features you use: feed, messages, calls, family tree, shops.
• To keep the service safe and working, which means preventing abuse and fixing problems.

What we never do

• We never sell your data.
• We never use your content for advertising. There is no advertising business here to tempt us later.
• We never share your private content with anyone you did not choose.

Your choices and your rights

• Delete your account at any time from inside the app. This removes your account and your personal details.
• Access or correct your information from your profile and your preferences.
• Report or block content and people you do not want to interact with.
• Ask for a copy of your data, or ask anything at all, by writing to the address below.

If you are in the European Union these are your rights under the GDPR, which are access, correction, erasure, portability and objection. Asking costs nothing and you do not need a reason.

Children

Accounts are created by adults, and family members are added by the people who invite them. Where a child takes part in something run through the platform, an adult guardian signs them up and the account belongs to the guardian, not to the child.

If you believe a child is described here without the involvement of a parent or guardian, write to the address below and we will act promptly.

How long we keep it

We keep your information while your account is active. When you delete your account your personal details are removed. Entries that other relatives added to a shared family tree may remain part of that history unless those relatives also agree to remove them. Some limited records may be kept where security or the law requires it, for as short a time as necessary.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will change the date above, and for anything significant we will tell you in the app.
